Dr. Nita Shanbhag is a practicing Squint surgeon since 1992 and an academician par excellence for the undergraduate & post graduate students. She is currently a professor & HOD at a Medical college of repute and has tutored and guided many aspiring ophthalmologists. She completed MBBS with Lokmanya Tilak Muncipal Medical College In 1991. She was awarded the Ramabai Aditiya Gold medal for ranking FIRST at her diploma from the college of Physicians & Surgeons Mumbai. She ranked SECOND in the Mumbai university at her Masters in Ophthalmology in 1992. She then moved on to too complete her super specialization from Sydney Eye Hospital, Australia.
She has various papers & posters at National & International conferences to her credit.
She has chapters to her credit like Mastering the Technique on IOL power calculation & Update on Phacochop Technique.
She received Best Poster presentation at many BOA & MOS conferences.
She received the best paper award from Professor Harminder Singh Dua, a cornea consultant of repute of the Nottingham University at Maharashtra Ophthalmology Society held in 2007 at Sholapur on Stem cell transplant & Amniotic membrane use in the Eye.
She has received the Bell Pharma Award for the best surgeon in category other than cataract from the MOS, consecutively for three years ( 2006 – 2008).
She has participated in various research activities contributing to judging the safety & efficacy of new drug molecules. She has various research projects to her credit contributing to the betterment of society precluding the safety & efficacy of any new drug introduced.
She has travelled to various places to participate in National & International Conferences, Paper presentation, Poster presentation as well as Live surgery.
She is a Painter of great artistic flair and has gone to complete her Visharad in classical Indian Music.
Patient care is at the core of her heart and she takes every effort to fulfill this aspiration of hers.
