Chennai, March 27, 2022: As a part of World Optometry Day celebration, Dr. Agarwal’s Institute of Optometry (DAIO) organized Human Chain formation to create public awareness on Eye Health and Optometry. Around 100 students at Dr. Agarwal’s Institute of Optometry and 30 people from the healthcare sector participated in a Human Chain Formation at Elliot’s Beach, Besant Nagar today.
The chief guest for the event was Dr. Srinivasan G Rao, Consultant Ophthalmologist & Chief Medical Director, Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospitals, Tambaram.
Dr Karpagam Damodaran, Dean of DAIO, said: “World Optometry Day is celebrated on 23rd March every year and it is a day set aside to celebrate every optometrist and eye care professional worldwide. As a part of the celebration, DAIO the students took the responsibility of creating awareness on Eye Health and Optometry. Students made awareness posters and placards regarding eye ailments, preventing eye disorders, pediatric vision care, and vision care for the digitalized world and so on.”
Optometry is a healthcare profession that is autonomous, educated, regulated and Optometrists are primary healthcare practitioners of the eye and visual system who provides comprehensive eye & vision care.
